Heart Guide for Lesson 22:
No More Idols

The author of Hebrews says that the enemy was defeated by the Blood of the Lamb, the word of testimony and by not loving our lives even unto death (Revelation 12:11). Personal testimony is a powerful bondage breaker. It increases freedom and grace to the one who shares (Matthew 10:32) and it provides faith and insight to others for gaining their own breakthroughs.

Our 'secrets' our wounds and our weakness--eventually need to be brought out into the light of Christ and the light of day for proper cleansing and mending. Review how well (or not so well) that you have been allowing others in the Body of Christ to be encouraged by you (as you share the stories of your growth in grace) or to be encouragers to you (as you have gone to them for counsel and prayer).

1)  Praise Reports

Consider the areas outlined in the previous Exercise section. Are there areas there of former struggle that you have already been helped by the Lord to gain real and lasting freedom? In sharing praise reports about those victories have you been able to stay on the glory side (focusing on what the Lord did for you or revealed to you that brought victory) and not on the 'gory' side (rehashing the tales of bondage and failure)? As you review those victories in your memory look especially for how one or all of the three lies were overcome in your belief system as victory was won.

2) Prayer Requests

Are there areas where you are still struggling? Pray for the three lies to be exposed to the light and overturned. Pray also for the graced ability to call and keep calling on the Lord, to more fully surrender to Him and to persevere until final victory comes. Then ask the Lord if there is someone you might need to approach who could help you in that area if you opened up about it. Be willing to move out of your comfort zone—'risk' is part of what it means to live the life of faith!
